Make your own face oil

Friends, how's winter going for you? Here at Palm Haven cottage where it's normally hot and humid, our area has been having much cooler and drier weather. As we know, this affects the skin. No, you're not getting wrinkly -- it's the winter weather!

However, even in the sauna of summer, there's a face oil formulation I have been using for at least two years. I didn't think about sharing it until now. I use only five drops per day, and I really love it. Here's what's in it:

Jojoba Oil

  • Closely mimics the skin's natural sebum, helping balance oil production.
  • Non-comedogenic and suitable for acne-prone skin.
  • Provides long-lasting hydration by forming a protective barrier.
  • Rich in antioxidants like Vitamin E, which combat free radicals.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties can soothe irritated or sensitive skin.

Passionfruit (Maracuja) Oil

  • Lightweight and fast-absorbing, suitable for all skin types.
  • High in linoleic acid, which supports the skin barrier and reduces acne.
  • Rich in vitamins A and C, promoting skin repair and radiance.
  • Contains antioxidants that protect against environmental damage.
  • Soothes dry or inflamed skin with its natural emollient properties.

Camellia Seed Oil (Tea Seed Oil)

  • Deeply hydrates without clogging pores.
  • High in oleic acid and antioxidants, nourishing and protecting the skin.
  • Promotes skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines.
  • Anti-inflammatory and calming, ideal for sensitive skin.
  • Lightweight and suitable as a base for other skincare ingredients.

Gotu Kola (Centella Asiatica)

  • Stimulates collagen production, improving skin elasticity and reducing wrinkles.
  • Speeds up wound healing and reduces scars and stretch marks.
  • Anti-inflammatory properties help calm redness and irritation.
  • Strengthens the skin barrier, improving hydration and resilience.
  • Rich in antioxidants that protect against aging and environmental stress.

Castor Oil

  • Contains ricinoleic acid, which has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
  • Acts as a humectant, drawing moisture into the skin.
  • Promotes wound healing and reduces inflammation.
  • Soothes dry or flaky skin with its rich, fatty acid content.
  • Helps with acne by cleansing pores and reducing bacterial growth.

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3)

  • Regulates oil production and minimizes the appearance of pores.
  • Strengthens the skin barrier, improving hydration and resilience.
  • Reduces redness and blotchiness from irritation or rosacea.
  • Diminishes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
  • Helps to protect the skin against environmental damage.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

  • Powerful antioxidant that combats free radicals and prevents premature aging.
  • Enhances skin hydration by strengthening the skin barrier.
  • Soothes irritation and promotes wound healing.
  • Protects the skin from UV damage and boosts the effectiveness of sunscreens.
  • Helps fade scars and improve skin texture.

Sometimes I also add rosehip oil if I have it.

Here's how to make your own face oil!

You'll want a clean container like a dropper bottle that can hold one ounce of liquid. You might want a funnel to pour in each oil without spilling it. You'll also need a scale to weigh each ingredient, although you could probably guesstimate how much of each to put in the bottle.

  • 14.1 grams of jojoba oil (roughly half an ounce, or half of the one-ounce bottle)
  • 2 grams of each of the rest of the oils: castor, maracuja, gotu kola, camellia seed, niacinamide, and vitamin E, and/or rosehip oil, and/or bakuchiol.

That's it! It's been incredible for me.

How to use the face oil

Squeeze 3 to 7 drops onto the pads of your fingertips, or dab the oil out, depending on the kind of container you use. Rub the oil on the pads of your fingertips, then apply to your face and neck.

While you rub the oil on your face, think good thoughts! Say to yourself, "I am beautiful. I look beautiful. I feel beautiful. Everyone else thinks I'm beautiful. I have a beautiful face, body, mind, soul, and spirit. I am beautiful inside and out."

Be happy!

If you would rather buy the face oil instead of making it yourself
